Srinagar, Apr 08 (KNO): The Ministry of Railways has approved the 'Final Location Survey' (FLS) for a proposed new railway line between Reasi and Poonch in Jammu and Kashmir.
According to an order issued by the Railway Board which is in possession of the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), the survey to be carried out by Northern Railway, will cover a distance of around 190 kilometres and has been sanctioned at a cost of Rs 26.41 crore.
The order stated: “The approval was communicated on April 8, following a proposal submitted by Northern Railway in December last year.”
Officials said the survey will determine the feasibility, alignment and technical aspects of the proposed rail link aimed at improving connectivity in the region.
The expenditure for the survey will be met under the Railways’ head for policy formulation, research and miscellaneous works, the order added.
The proposed line is expected to enhance rail connectivity in the border districts of Jammu and Kashmir, particularly linking the Pir Panjal region with the existing rail network—(KNO)
